Giovanni Escaner vs Rene Dacquel
The much awaited face-off between Giovanni Escaner and Rene Dacquel for the Philippine Bantamweight Championship last December 22, 2018.
Blow-by-blow rounds were witnessed in the square circle then a timely left hook from Escaner shook the fulcrum of the former OPBF Champion Dacquel sending him down the canvass but was able to rise up before the count ended. Giovanni ruled most of the rounds. The rest period of the 6th round marked Escaner’s win of the night as Dacquel’s corner signaled a stop for the match. Escaner won the bout via TKO.
Robin Langres vs Jason Buenaobra
An early stiff jab dictated the bout of Jason Buenaobra and Robin Langres giving the latter difficulty swaying himself in for some actions. Great slide-slipping moves to avoid blows from Langres were shown by Buenaobra at the onset. But the wheel turned, as the later rounds of the match favored Langres putting Buenaobra to an almost loss. An accidental head-butt occurred in the 10th. Judges Aquil Tamano and Robert Bridges scored 96-94 for Buenaobra while Danilo Lopez gave 96-94 to Langres. The bout resulted to a technical decision win for Buenaobra.
Aljum Pelesio vs Enrique Magsalin
A vigorous Aljum Pelesio showed in his bout with Enrique Magsalin. Pelesio kept pressing forward to get a lock horn with his opponent but Magsalin seemed to come in prepared as he was able to slip most of the time. With his persistence, Pelesio fired away hard body shots, he attempted to trap him. As they said, Magsalin seemed to be receiving the wrath-of-a-god blows. The match ended with a unanimous victory for Aljum.
Kenneth Alquiza vs Noel Guliman
Kenneth Alquiza came in like a lion hunting for his prey as he fought Noel Guliman. Alquiza patiently began with stiff body jabs until a well-timed perfect left hook stunned Guliman sending him down the canvass. The latter was able to get up just before the count ended. The rest of the rounds depicted a fight flow dictated by Alquiza as Guliman hardly landed punches to his opponent. Alquiza’s power and speed were magnified in the match. Referee Alfie Jocosol had the queue to ask Guliman for a possible stoppage
Malfred Madajas vs Rico Saonoy
This fight was not a judges call. Malfred Madajas secured that as he showed eminent power in the square ring with Rico Saonoy. Madajas aimed early for the body to secure long-term effect throughout the fight. In three damaging rounds, Saonoy was knock down but was able to rise up and beat the count. An unintentional low blow hits Saonoy resulting to a sudden stop in the fight. As the fight resumed, Madajas came in with unwavering power aiming Saonoy’s body causing the latter to receive more destructive blows. With this, Referee Ferdie Estrella halted the fight and declared Maldred Madajas as winner via TKO.
Alexander Almacen vs Ryan Fullero
Alexander Almacen came in with his exceptional boxing tactics outpointing the experienced Ryan Fullero in the entirety of the bout they brawl over. It was a one-way fight all the way.
Judges Robert Bridges, Danilo Lopez and Aquil Tamano all score 40-36 in favor of Almacen. Alexander Almacen ended the bout with a unanimous victory.
Henry Lumanan vs Anthony Morales
Two vigorous and spirited boxers, Henry Lumanan and Anthony Morales. Both are aspirants to win the fight with all their might so they fired away hard blows and powerful bombs in the entirety of the rounds. Times in the fight existed when Lumanan came in victorious to trap Morales in the rope but the latter always found ways to get away. Two of the bout judges favored Lumanan as Judges Robert Bridges and Danilo Lopez gave him 39-37. Judge Alfie Jocosol scored 38-38. Henry Lumanan walked away with a majority decision win.
Florivic Montero vs Amy Berezowski
An action-packed match was witnessed between Kapampangan boxer Florivic Montero and Canadian fighter Amy Berezowski. Florivic quickly started the fight with actions engaging Berezowski to fire hot in the first round. Berezowski was evident to be keeping the distance by throwing well-pointed jabs to Montero but the Kapampangan’s agility came in the picture as she made her slips through Berezowski to land numerous left hooks. This made the Canadian helpless in the ropes. With the damage caused, Referee Aquil Tamano halted the bout declaring Florivic Montero as winner via TKO.
Ranelio Quizo vs Rolando Plaza
The square ring was landed with two strong boxers Ranelio Quizo and Rolando Plaza in their well-match face-off. Quizo had momentarily outpoint Plaza but the latter secured a strategy to explode a straight right hand flooring Quizo in the first round. Elorde boxer Quizo was still able to beat the count in that knockdown. That knockdown worked as wake-up call to Quizo as he was able to throw more precise combinations, making Plaza to be on a back pedal in the most fight
All three Judges Robert Bridges, Aquil Tamano and Danilo Lopez scored the bout; 38 to 37 in favor of Quizo.
