Emil Meek will look to bounce back from his first UFC loss when he faces Bartosz Fabinski in Hamburg on Jul.22.
The UFC announced the fight through its social media channels on Friday.
Meek (9-3-0) started off his UFC tenure with a win when he weathered Jordan Mein’s early storm to claim a unanimous decision win at UFC 206. “Valhalla” rose to prominence on the international scene when he scored a first-round TKO over controversial submission specialist Rousimar Palhares at Venator FC 3.
The Norwegian got a big step up in opposition in his last outing when he faced Kamaru Usman. Despite him frustrating “The Nigerian Nightmare” in the striking exchanges, he couldn’t stop his signature takedowns, which won the prospect a unanimous decision nod.
Fabinski (13-2-0) has yet to taste defeat in the Octagon in two tests. After earning a reputation for first round finishes in Poland, “The Butcher” won a call-up to the UFC when the promotion ported in in Krakow in 2015. After seeing off middleweight Garreth McLellan in his debut, he dropped down to welterweight and bested Hector Urbina over three rounds in front of his passionate Mexican home support.
Fabinski hasn’t fought since his Nov. 2015 win over Urbina. He was forced out of a scheduled bout against Nicolas Dalby at UFC Zagreb in Apr. 2016 due to injury.
So far, the UFC has officially announced nine bouts for the German event:
Volkan Oezdemir vs. Mauricio Rua
Marcin Tybura vs. Stefan Struve
Nasrat Haqparast vs. Marc Diakiese
Jeremy Kimball vs. Darko Stosic
Glover Teixeira vs. Ilir Latifi
