FILIPINO boxer Michael Enriquez and his Thai opponent Yutthana Kaensa both made their weight today (June 28) for their championship fight tomorrow for the WBA Asia flyweight crown in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 25-year-old Enriquez, who has 13 victories, nine by knockouts, six losses and one draw, vowed to do whatever it takes to emerge victorious in enemy’s territory.
“I know I need a knockout to win and I will do everything to get it. My opponent is a good fighter but I didn’t come to Thailand to lose,” said Enriquez, who is coming off a knockout win over Jade Yagahon in T’Boli, Cotabato del Sur.
Jim Claude Manangquil, the youthful chief executive officer (CEO) of Sanman Promotions, said his ward took the needed preparation against his former world champion Thai opponent.
“Michael trained for two months for this fight. We are facing a former world champion but we are confident,” said Manangquil.
Kaensa sports a menacing 16W-1L-0D, 6KOs record.
The 25-year-old Kaensa started his career with 15 straight wins before losing to Kazuto Ioka last Dec. 31, 2016 fight for the WBA World flyweight belt in Kyoto, Japan. (SANMAN PROMOTIONS)
