Massachusetts’s own Eric Spicely is heading down to Boston.
Spicely (12-5) will fight Brendan Allen (12-3) in a middleweight bout at UFC on ESPN 6 on Oct. 18 at TD Garden. The matchup was announced on Tuesday’s episode of the Contender Series.
When Spicely was last seen in the Octagon, it was on the losing end of a unanimous decision to Deron Winn at UFC Greenville. Spicely is currently in his second stint with the UFC.
The 32-year-old went 2-4 in his first run with the promotion, which included a first-round submission of current light heavyweight title contender Thiago Santos back in September 2016. Spicely picked up consecutive first-round finishes competing for the CES promotion before being re-signed to the UFC as a short-notice opponent for Winn.
Allen earned a contract on Contender Series earlier this year with a first-round submission of Aaron Jeffery. The 23-year-old has won four straight fights and five of his last six.
