Just days after his successful IBF title defense against Carlos Ocampo in Texas, Errol Spence Jr spoke with PBC Jabs about what’s next for him, and about the likely August 25 fight between Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter.
“I definitely want the winner of Danny Garcia-Shawn Porter,” he said. “That’s a close fight. With me, I always picked against Danny Garcia in the past, and he always proved me wrong. It’s hard to go against Danny Garcia, so I’ll probably pick Danny Garcia, split decision.
“But Shawn Porter’s always a tough fight, because he’s gonna come forward, he’s gonna give it all. He’s gonna try to basically mug you. I got Danny Garcia winning that fight.”
Asked if there’s anyone else he wants to fight, Spence (24-0, 21 KO) couldn’t resist taking a bit of a shot at another PBC welterweight.
“Keith Thurman, but he’s kinda retired right now. So, I mean, basically that’s it.”
