Errol Spence Jr will be on PBC on NBC tonight and says he may have an announcement.
Top welterweight prospect and emerging contender Errol Spence Jr will be part of tonight’s PBC on NBC broadcast team in Chicago, and is teasing an announcement of his own:
Spence (20-0, 17 KO) last fought on April 16, thrashing Chris Algieri and scoring a fifth round TKO victory. He’s now in line for a shot at the IBF title, currently held by Kell Brook, who will be facing WBO titleholder Jessie Vargas in a unification fight this fall.
The IBF initially ordered a final eliminator between Spence and Konstantin Ponomarev, but Ponomarev withdrew from negotiations due to an injury. That has led to Leonard Bundu being the new ordered opponent for Spence, so the announcement, if it’s about a fight date and/or opponent, is probably going to be about Bundu (33-1-2, 12 KO), a 41-year-old Italian and two-time European champion, probably best known for a 2014 loss to Keith Thurman.
PBC on NBC starts at 8:30 p.m. ET tonight.
