UFC Sao Paulo has a new main event. Again.
After going from Glover Teixeira vs. Jimi Manuwa to Manuwa vs. Thiago Santos, Saturday’s Fight Night card in Sao Paulo, Brazil, will be headlined by Santos vs. Eryk Anders at light heavyweight, sources told MMA Fighting after a report by MMAjunkie.
The UFC card takes place at the Ibirapuera gymnasium on Sept. 22 and airs live on FOX Sports 1.
Anders (11-1) steps in only three weeks after a devastating knockout win over Tim Williams in August, bouncing back from his only MMA loss to Lyoto Machida in February, a close five-round decision in Belem, Brazil.
Santos (18-6) defeated Kevin Holland via decision at UFC 227 in August, returning to the winning column after a TKO loss to David Branch snapped his four-fight finishing streak. “Marreta” is 9-3 with seven knockout wins in the UFC since 2015.
Now headlined by Santos vs. Anders, the Fight Night Sao Paulo event has been hit by several changes over the past few weeks, losing match-ups like Neil Magny vs. Alex Oliveira, Antonio Carlos Junior vs. Elias Theodorou and Ketlen Vieira vs. Tonya Evinger.
