WBC super featherweight female champion Eva Wahlström cruised to a convincing UD against feisty Argentinean Mayra Alejandra Gomez, in Turku, Finland.
Wahlström, who became Finlandºs first World Boxing Council champion in 2015, fought a worthy and courageous challenger. however, this was a relatively easy sixth defence of her crown.
”She was a fun opponent who seriously challenged me. I could tell she was giving it her all, really wanted to win and wasn’t afraid of taking risks. But I feel like I boxed well,” said Wahlström after the match.
Wahlström has plenty of reasons to feel pleased. Her own severest critic, she usually has many things she wishes she had done differently during a match, but this time technique was flawless and flowing, giving her near total control of the situation:
”At least that’s how it felt. I don’t know what it looked like!”
