EX-WORLD CHAMP PETALCORIN VS. PURISIMA ON SEPT. 9 IN POLOMOLOK

DAVAO CITY – Former world champion Randy “Razor” Petalcorin of Davao City will fight Jetly Purisima of Gen. Santos City on Sept. 9 at the Polomolok gym in Polomolok, South Cotabato.
The 8-rounder bout is one of the undercard in the “Road to Stardom” fight card of the Sanman Boxing Promotions.
Petalcorin (26W-2L-1D, 19KOs) of Sanman Boxing Gym captured the IBF Pan Pacific light flyweight title via a unanimous decision win against Arnold Garde last Dec. 4 at Robinson’s Gensan.
The 25-year old Petalcorin, a former WBA world light flyweight champion, previously stopped Mark Anthony Florida in the 6th round last Feb. 26 at the Lagao Gym in Gensan.
Purisima (21W-23L-4D, 7KOs), on the other hand, is now really hungry to score a victory since he is already coming from five straight losses.
Purisima, a former Philippine Boxing Federation light flyweight champion, was stopped by Raymond Tabugon in the 7th round in his last fight held last May 12 in Davao.
The 29-year old Purisima also earlier bowed to Mike Plania, Lolito Sonsona, Jason Canoy and Genesis Libranza.
Meanwhile, pitted in the main event is IBF Youth super flyweight champion Jade Bornea (8-0, 5 KOs) defending his title against first challenger Jakkrawut Majoogoen (19-1-0, 11 KOs) of Thailand.
The main supporting bout is the championship fight for the vacant Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) Silver bantamweight title between Ben Mananquil (14W-1L-2D, 3KOs) of Gensan and Rhey Waminal (11W-1L-0D, 6KOS) of Thailand.
