Ffion Davies might be the star submission grappling needs to take it to the next level.
Following an impressive World Championship win in her maiden appearance as a black belt, Ffion Davies won gold at last weekend’s European championships. With the eyes of the grappling world set firmly on her, Davies has been handed her toughest challenge to date.
According to BJJ news website GrapplingInsider.com, Davies has been slated to face Gezary Matuda for the -55kg Polaris World Championship. Matuda is best known for her relentless armbar attacks and as a American Top Team black belt, her pressure and top game is equally as impressive.
Davies is a black belt under East Coast BJJ’s Darragh O’Conaill and has been a prolific competitor since her blue belt days where she dominated the Welsh scene before making her way towards international success. Davies and Matuda will be joined on the card by Vagner Rocha who will be looking to build upon his submission victory over Benson Henderson at Polaris 8.
Polaris 9 goes down on Friday, March 15th in London, England and will be aired live on UFC Fight Pass.
