One other charge was dropped in October
It seems we don’t have a Full Broner quite yet.
Gervonta Davis’ accuser, who pressed charges claiming that Davis had sucker-punched him, has elected not to pursue the matter further and thus the state has dropped the last of the charges. Davis and his accuser reportedly “shook hands and embraced” on their way out of the courtroom.
Davis (19-0, 18 KO) is at a critical juncture in his career, as he missed weight prior to his first IBF title defense and badly underperformed against Francisco Fonseca before finishing him with a shot to the back of the head. It was a far cry from his one-sided thrashings of Jose Pedraza and Liam Walsh and seemed to indicate serious commitment issues.
With the legal troubles out of the way, at least as far as the assault goes, Davis has stated that he wants to fight again early in 2018. For his own sake, he’d better take things seriously.
