FINALLY: WBC OPBF SEMINAR IN MALAYSIA

THE first-ever World Boxing Council (WBC) and Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) Referees and Judges Seminar in Malaysia will be held on October 29 and 30 at the Muay Fit in IOI Boulevard, Puchong.

“Finally the WBC and OPBF is coming to Malaysia!!,” said Malaysia Boxing Association (WBA) president Raymond Lew Kian Chung.

WBC is the world’s leading organization for professional boxing with OPBF as its affiliate in the Orient Pacific region.

“WBC OPBF is coming to Malaysia for the first time to recruit the first group of official referees and judges from Malaysia to be under the esteemed organization,” said Lew Kian Chung.

“This is in preparation for an upcoming OPBF Championship in January in Malaysia,” he added.

The seminar for the referees and judges will be conducted by WBC Asia secretary-general Patrick Cusick and multi-awarded WBC and OPBF boxing referee-judge Bruce McTavish of New Zealand.

Cusick is also a member of the WBC Board of Governors .

Also invited are Dato Rahman Lariwoo, president of the Sarawak Boxing Association and WBC OPBF top boxing promoter Brico Santig of the Highland International from the Philippines.

Lariwoo, also Malaysia’s boxing team manager in the upcoming Southeast Asian Games next year, will deliver the Opening  welcome message .

“This is is a great opportunity for us to be part of WBC/OPBF organization and witness the birth of professional boxing in Malaysia,” Lariwoo said.

He added: “Let us bring out the potential of Malaysia boxing to international arena! Be a part of the revolution of professional boxing in Malaysia!”

The seminar on Oct. 29 will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. while on Oct.30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will be followed by a press conference at 4 p.m. This seminar is limited to 20 participants only and each of them will receive a certificate.
