The beaches of Puerto Colombia will once again serve as a boxing venue next Saturday, June 26th, when Venezuelan Yoel Finol will step into the ring in his fourth professional bout to fight for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Fedebol belt against Mexican Luis Gerardo Castillo at the Kilymandiaro Club, during the “Fuego en el Caribe” (Fire in the Caribbean) boxing card.
The Rio 2016 Olympic silver medalist will make his first fight at Super Flyweight after making three fights between Bantamweight and Super Bantamweight. Finol (3-0, 1KO) will be the main attraction of the event that will feature a lot of Latin American talent in a total of 12 fights.
The event will be organized by Alberto Agámez Promotions and will be part of the WBA Challenge, a program of the pioneer organization that seeks to give activity to fighters of the region.
Finol, 24 years old, last stepped into the ring last December. On that occasion, he defeated Colombian Javier Martinez by unanimous decision in an excellent boxing and technical exhibition. Now he will have his first test against a Mexican opponent, who are always tough fighters.
“La Sombra” Castillo (28-2, 18 KOs) has more professional experience than the Venezuelan prospect and comes from delivering two knockouts in a row. The Jiqulipilco native is going into his first international experience and is full of motivation for the showdown.
In addition to the main fight, Cuba’s Lenier Peró, WBA-Fedelatin Heavyweight Champion, will also be in action against Colombia’s Dumar Carrascal. On the other hand, Venezuela’s Franklin Gonzalez and Argentina’s Kevin Muñoz will fight in a very interesting Super Flyweight bout.
The boxing card will feature the debut of Colombian National Team boxer John Lennon, who will face Mexican Abraham Monroy in the Super Lightweight category.
Colombia’s Veronica Zuluaga and Paulina Angel will also return to the ring, two talented women who have just begun their boxing careers.
“Fuego en el Caribe” will have a lot of action and great fights, which can be seen on TyC Sports for Latin America.
