FIRST GENERATION OF ACADEMY CONADE PLEDGE TO FULFILL DREAMS

In a crowded press conference at the auditorium of the National Center for the Development of Sports Talents and High Performance (CNAR) the first generation of the CONADE Academy of boxing was presented.

Mr. Jorge Octavio Lara, director of the CNAR along with the president of the WBC, Mr. Mauricio Sulaiman officially presented the group of 9 young people between 16 and 17 years old, who each will receive a full grant within a high performance system that provides them with everything necessary for them to develop their full potential and talents.

The youngsters won their places in the CNAR, after an exacting selection process and a highly competitive tournament held in Cancun, Quintana Roo.

Jacobo Guerra Vargas, Marco Ariel Hernandez Alvidrez, Andres Corzo Guzman, Pedro Fernando Armas, Ivan Garcia Balderas, Brandon Palacios Reyes, Sergio Alfonso Mendoza Cordova, Esmeralda Roussell Rodriguez and Cristina Alejandra Jiménez Ramirez, are the first generation of this great project that seeks to capture talents

Luis Urieta, CONADE Academies coordinator, stressed it’s imperative to rescue and promote amateur boxing to conserve, develop and flourish the sport.

Youngsters from Chihuahua, Quintana Roo, State of Mexico Zacatecas, Sonora and Mexico City say that this will be a generation that will leave its mark in boxing, because this is a golden an opportunity to become great champions in the future, like David Benavides WBC world champion in the super middle division, who attended to this event.

Mauricio Sulaiman expressed grave concern about the severe internal problem between the International Olympic Committee and AIBA, which has put amateur boxing at serious risk, as the IOC is considering leaving this sport out of the Olympic Games due to the mismanagement that AIBA has shown in recent years.

He expressed deep concern, as boxing has been a sport that has always been in the Olympic Games and is also the platform for athletes across the country to achieve Olympic glory, saying:

“Today is a historic day, as we are witnessing the birth of a unique project that will give a new impetus to our beloved sport. You are the hope of a future full of glory.”
