Former UFC champion Dominick Cruz: Brock Lesnar is ‘absolutely doping’

Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar is currently serving a year-long suspension, stemming from his failed drug tests for UFC 200 in July 2016. The ex-WWE superstar tested positive for banned substance clomiphene, which subsequently led to the overturning of his fight against Mark Hunt from a unanimous decision win in his favor to a No Contest.

Lesnar re-entered the USADA testing pool this month, but according to the agency, he will only be able to receive eligibility for competition by January 8th, 2019 at the earliest. However, there are skeptics if the 40-year-old fighter would actually be able to fight with no PED-related troubles, one of them being former UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz.

“If he makes it to the fight I’d be shocked,” Cruz said on San Diego’s Scott & BR Show on 1090 AM (transcript via MMA Mania). “And I just mean that because USADA is the toughest anti-doping system there is on planet Earth, and that guy is absolutely doping. Period. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.”

“And he’s not been in mixed martial arts, so of course he’s been doing that stuff. How they’re going to get him to be clean on fight night is beyond me.”

If Lesnar does pass all of his drug test requirements with USADA, he will be the first man to challenge Daniel Cormier for the UFC heavyweight title.
