In an unexpected turn of events, recently-cut UFC fighter Francimar Barroso is not the least bit sad about being released from his contract. In fact, as he explained to Globo Esporte, the light heavyweight and his managers were happy to hear the news as they have had proposals from other organizations.

“We’ve been negotiating with the UFC for the longest time. We’ve been discussing my weight class change. I sent them a proposal for a different contract, I was trying to get a better deal, but they hadn’t given me an answer until last week. They got in touch and informed me I was being released from my contract. That was no problem at all. My managers celebrated that, because it was something we all wanted.”

“I have two proposals from two different organizations, and I’ve have had them for a while now, since last year. I just needed a position from the UFC. They’re both really good deals, even better than the one I had with the UFC at the moment.

“If they accepted me switching to heavyweight, I would’ve stayed – that was the only way – but they didn’t want me to, so they released me. That’s a cause for happiness. I’m negotiating with these two organizations and I’ll close the best deal.”

Francimar Barroso (19-7, 1 NC) ends his UFC run with a 4-4, 1 NC record, with wins over names such as Ryan Jimmo and Elvis Mutapcic. He was bested by Gian Villante andAleksandar Rakic in his last two outings, resulting in his release.
