He’s back, ladies and gentlemen. That’s right, it’s Rodimus Prime, the Rod from God, the Salka Who Don’t Balk-a From No Man: the inimitable Rod Salka, who gets another shot at the big time next month when he takes on former super lightweight champ Francisco Vargas in Palm Springs.
2x #FOTY winner and former WBC Super Featherweight World Champion @elbandido130 (24-1-2, 17 KOs) will face “Lightning” Rod Salka (24-4, 4 KOs) in the main event on April 12 #GBPonESPN @fantasysprings. ESPN2 | @ESPNDeportes 7:00pm PT, http://ESPN3.com 5:30pm PT.
Salka (24-4, 4 KO), half of one of the most hilariously grievous mismatches of all time against Danny Garcia, has won five straight since that defeat, upping his career knockout total by 33% in the process. He has approximately zero chance against Vargas (24-1-2, 17 KO), who rebounded from his brutal loss to Miguel Berchelt with a technical decision over Stephen Smith last December.
But hey, at least Salka’s only ranked 93rd by BoxRec this time. Part of that elite double-digit squad.
No word yet as to which-if-any fights will join this on the broadcast, but if it’s anything more interesting than this glorified snuff film, we’ll let you know.
