Joshua Franco and Andrew Moloney will meet for the third time next Saturday at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, in Tulsa, Oklahoma City. It will be the third WBA super flyweight title fight between the two fighters and comes with high expectations.
Franco, 25, is the champion and he will be defending his title in the event organized by Top Rank. The San Antonio native won the belt in June 2020 when he defeated Moloney by unanimous decision in a great performance.
In November of last year, they met for the second time but the bout ended without a decision after two rounds due to a fortuitous punch that hurt Franco’s eye and did not allow him to continue in the fight.
However, the little that was seen of the fight was interesting, and close to the third bout was signed for this week.
Moloney is very hungry to get the belt back. The 30-year-old Australian has repeatedly stated that he will go after what he feels belongs to him but he will have to dig deep if he wants to become champion of the pioneer organization again.
It will be an evenly matched showdown with both men looking to prove they are among the 115-pound elite. Franco comes in with a record of 17 wins, 1 loss, 2 draws, and 8 knockouts, while Moloney has a record of 21 wins, 1 loss, and 14 knockouts.
