In a historic, record-breaking purse bidding for pro boxing, British promoter Frank Warren of Queensberry Promotions, won the right to promote the fight between WBC heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury and mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte with the staggering amount offered and won of $41,025,000
The purse bidding was held from the WBC head office in Mexico City.
Warren really won by bidding a bit over $ 41 million, while promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing offered $32,222,222.
By all counts, Frank Warren’s bidding is the largest bidding ever offered in boxing history.
According to the WBC rules, the purses must be divided 80% for the champion Tyson Fury; and 20% for the challenger Dillian Whyte, both men in this fight making a fantastic amount of money. Good for them!
