DAVAO CITY — The results of the free diagnostic, medical and neurologic examination to all professional boxers can now be availed for only two days already in Davao City.
“It used to take them four to five days to get their results. But now it’s only two days kasi nagawan ng GAB ng paraan,” said GAB Davao Field Officer-in-Charge Fahd Sinsuat.
The GAB and Department of Health had started giving free CT scan and other medical tests for professional boxers last November at the Southern Philippines Medical Center.
The schedule of laboratory requirements for X-ray, HepBsAG, drug test and ECG is daily and the schedule of neurologist is every Monday and Friday only from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.,
“You can start processing your medical requirements on Thursday and finish it on Friday already. It just two days of processing but only those boxers without CT scan recommendation from the neurologist,” said Sinsuat.
Sinsuat said the release of CT scan and MRI would take a maximum of four to five days and a minimum of two days.
“It depends on the volume of patients in the hospital,” said Sinsuat.

Meanwhile, the GAB successfully conducted a one day dialogue with the boxing promoters, managers, trainers, boxers and stakeholders last March 6 at the Grand Men Seng Hotel in Davao City.
GAB Chairman Abraham “Baham” Mitra announced the trends and updates of the government agency and also asked the stakeholders on their problems with the sport.
“Participation and transparency is always the key to success. This is what we are doing to find out needs and assess what we can do directly from them,” said Mitra.
Among the other topics discussed “Boxer-Manager relations/rights contracts and Role of GAB to assist”, “Explanation of Rules Governing Boxing”, “Hydration and other Health and Nutrition Issue”, “Assignment of Officials & Discussion on Free Medicals”, “Steps and Rules to travel Abroad”, “Criteria/Eligibility and Principles of Rating”.
A Philippine Ratings Committee meeting was also conducted after the dialogue.
