You must remember this…..Undisputed unified welterweight champion, Colombian-Norwegian Cecilia Braekhus, emphatically defeated Sweden’s Mikaela Lauren with a sixth-round knockout at the Center Convention Center in Stokke, Norway.
In their first fight in 2010, the accomplished and powerful Braekhus halted a raw and then inexperienced Lauren in seven torrid one sided rounds, in what was considered a fundamental mismatch.
Lauren has improved a lot since then winning a world title in her own right. And… she tried to unsettle Braekhus in the build up to the fight, even kissing her on the mouth at the weigh in, to get her face duly slapped.
Braekhus, followed this up, with an unruffled, patient and systematic pummelling on Saturday night, to go one round better with this stoppage on this occasion.
With this victory, Braekhus improved her record to 32-0, 9 KO’s. While Lauren who had to take it on the “Kisser” embraced defeat, and was left with 29-5, 13 KOs.
