In the most exciting fight of Saturday, 6′ 5½″ Sebastian Fundora (19-0-1, 13 KO’s) overpowered tough Erickson Lubin (24-2, 17 KO’s) in nine chapters of action to claim the WBC Interim Super Welterweight Title tonight, April 9, in Las Vegas live, on Showtime.
But the thrilling win did not come without a big scare for “The Towering Inferno.”
After rocking and dropping Lubin down in round two, it was the unbeaten Fundora the one getting rocked to the canvas in the intense chapter seven, dropping fans’ jaws.
Showing his mattle, Fundora got up and managed to overcome the dangerous, rough moment to come back at Lubin fast and furious landing viciously on him, forcing the stoppage two rounds later.
After Fundora’s thrilling win, what elite 154-lbs warrior should the tall Latino fighter handled by Sampson Lewkowickz fight next?
Many fans would love to see Fundora against the winner of Jermell Charlo vs Brian Castano 2, a hot battle for the undisputed super welterweight title, unfolding May 14 in Carson, California, live on Showtime.
Or would it be awesome for fans if Sebastian Fundora fights unbeaten Australian Tim Tszyu (21-0, 15 KO’s)?
It was a fantastic win for Sebastian Fundora, adding spice to the Super Welterweight division.
