BANGKOK – Forty one other suspected fake medical records that were either tampered or produced illegally were again uncovered by the Games and Amusements Board this week.
“Akala naming yun na ang 70 ang mga fake. Meron pa palang iba,” said GAB Chairman Abraham Kahlil Mitra during an interview upon his arrival here last July 13 together with Commissioners Edward Trinidad and Fritz Gaston.
GAB conducted a meeting last July 12 to hear the side and address the issue of the first 70 blacklisted boxers who were found to have submitted fake CT Scan records.
The meeting was attended by some blacklisted boxers including their managers, trainers, promoters and match makers.
“The blacklisted boxers are now barred from fighting. Their licenses will only be reactivated upon submission of new CT Scans,” said Mitra.
Mitra pointed out that it is GAB’s mandate to ensure the safety of the professional boxers by minimizing or eliminating the risks of suffering serious injuries and even deaths.
“Kami ang pinagkatiwalaan upang pangalagaan kayo. Magtulungan tayo,” said Mitra during the meeting.
In the Order in GAB Case No. 04-17 (Motu Proprio Complaint versus Lory Abelalada, Et. Al.), dated July 10, 2017, the Board created an Investigating Committee composed of the Chief of the Legal Division as Chairman with the Assistant Chief of the Boxing and Other Contact Sports Division and Chief of the Medical Section as Members.
They are tasked to conduct investigation on the extent of the administrative liability, if any, of the respondents.
The Committee was also further directed to investigate the involvement of other parties and recommend the appropriate criminal, civil or administrative actions to be taken by the Board.
