Gabriel Rosado vs Glen Tapia set for October 19 on ESPN

Gabriel Rosado and Glen Tapia are set for action on October 19.

Gabriel Rosado and Glen Tapia will meet in a middleweight main event on October 19 on ESPN, part of the Golden Boy Boxing series on the network. The bout will take place at the Monte Carlo in Las Vegas.

Rosado (23-11, 13 KO) and Tapia (23-4, 15 KO) are both in tough spots, with Rosado dropping his last two and six of his last eight, and Tapia a loser of three consecutive bouts.

Rosado, 31, says he’s back with original trainer Billy Briscoe in Philadelphia. His last fight was a loss to Martin Murray in Liverpool on April 22, a scrappy, somewhat controversial bout.

Tapia, 27, is younger but has a lot of miles after TKO losses to Michel Soro and David Lemieux, and a 10-round decision loss to Jason Quigley on March 23.

The co-feature will be a welterweight bout between Alejandro Barrera (29-3, 18 KO) and Keandre Gibson (17-1-1, 7 KO). Barrera, 31, is coming off of a July 29 win over Eddie Gomez, a minor upset, after not fighting since a November 2015 loss to Errol Spence Jr. The 27-year-old Gibson lost to Antonio Orozco by stoppage in April, but bounced back with a win on June 30 over Dennis Dauti.
