After those exciting, yet carefully measured 12 rounds, the three Judges scored Lopez the UD winner: 115-112, 118-109 and 119-108.
Ganigan remained intelligent and watchful throughout the fight. An anxious moment or two, especially in the 7th round, when he was caught with a powerful flailing overhead right, but overcame everything due to tremendous conditioning and reverting back to dictating the pace with his long right southpaw lead.
Now a much anticipated fight is expected between Ganigan, and the former world champion, Pedro Guevara. A classy, classic rematch, which has the added spice of all Mexican firepower.
Both fighters clashed in 2015. Guevara who then ruled the WBC light flyweight division, was the winner. Now the tables are turned, and Pedrin has to stake his claim, for champion Ganigan to stake his crown.
