WBC light flyweight world champion Ganigan Lopez (27-6, 17 KOs) retained his title with a hard-fought twelve round unanimous decision over #1 rated Jonathan Taconing (22-2-1, 18 KOs) on Saturday night at the Arena Coliseo in Mexico City. Both fighters had their moments in the fight, but Lopez prevailed by scores of 115-112, 118-109, 119-108. Taconing deducted a point for a headbutt in round eight.
Former WBC light flyweight champion Pedro Guevara (28-2-1, 17 KOs) won by eighth round technical decision over Ruben “Huracan” Montoya (14-4-1, 9 KOs) after the bout was stopped due to an unintentional headbutt. Scores were 78-72, 79-75, 80-74.
