In a historic card in Barcelona, Sergio Garcia convincingly defeated Isaac Real by unanimous decision, to conquer the vacant silver WBC super welterweight title.
It was the main fight of an intense night of boxing organized by Galician Prada Promotions that gathered about 3,000 spectators.
Sergio García surprised with his speed and commandingly took the first two rounds, although “Chaca” fought back well with a very even third round. From there, the fight was a succession of surges and gains for Sergio Garcia inter dispersed with some power punches of Real.
With the usage of open scoring, at the end of round 4 and 8, it was evident for Real that he would only win with a KO. The final scorecards were 117-113, 117-113 and 119-109 all in favor of Garcia.
“I have found myself very well and I am very happy to have defeated a great rival. I could not miss this opportunity and now I want to move forward with whatever comes out,” said Sergio Garcia.
“I’m sorry, I’ve given everything and I have not been able to win, Sergio has been better than me and he deserved to win,” sportingly admitted Real.
