Mikey Garcia and Richard Commey reportedly reached a deal a few weeks ago, avoiding a scheduled IBF purse bid, but now ESPN reports that the two sides may be headed back that direction after all.

Commey’s team submitted a signed contract before the sanctioning body’s deadline, but Garcia’s did not, and a new bid is scheduled for Oct. 30 at the IBF offices in New Jersey.

Garcia (39-0, 30 KO) has become one of boxing’s top pound-for-pound fighters, winning world titles at 126, 130, 135, and 140. He still holds the 135-pound titles for the IBF and WBC, and Commey (27-2, 24 KO) is his IBF mandatory challenger.

Garcia has fought twice this year, beating Sergey Lipinets in what became a one-off fight at 140 pounds in March, and following up with a lightweight unification win over Robert Easter Jr in July.

Commey has also fought two times this year, in lower-level bouts, beating Alejandro Luna and Yardley Armenta Cruz. But he’s a legitimate contender at 135, with only two narrow losses on the world level marring his record.
