Gary Russell Jr. was named Boxer of the Month of the World Boxing Council, after successfully defending his WBC featherweight title for the third time, defeating Colombian Oscar Escandon by TKO.
Russell Jr, who has the fastest hands in boxing, overwhelmed Escandon, who came to this contest on May 20th, in Maryland, as Interim division champion. So…Gary improves his record to 28 wins, 17 KO´s 17and 1 loss.
The WBC also recognized Japanese Daigo Higa this month, who won the flyweight title from Mexican Juan Hernandez on May 20, in Tokyo Japan.
