Russian Murat Gassiev punched his ticket, sailing into the final of the World Boxing Super Series in the cruiserweight division, with a dramatic twelfth round KO of Cuban Yunier Dorticos, at the Bolshoy Ice Dome, in Sochi, Russia.
During that final three minutes Gassiev hammered Dorticos, to the canvass three times. The KO was completed just eight seconds, before the final bell was due to toll. Now he`s heading to the WBSS final, where he`ll clash with the Ukrainian Aleksandr Usyk, who`s the new cruiserweight champion of the World Boxing Council.
The WBSS final is scheduled for May 11th in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Usyk joined Gassiev in the ring after the fight. With more than a hint of face to face menace, they respectfully, sportingly yet curtly congratulated each on their victories. The rugged pair then promised a great, hard hitting, lion hearted memorable grandstand to conclude the tournament
