“The Cobber of Clobber” Jeff Fenech, affectionately nicknamed: “The Marrickville Mauler,” who`s greatest idol in the history of Australian boxing, has confirmed his attendance at the WBC 54th Convention, which we`ll celebrate in Hollywood, Florida December 11 to 17.
The Ring superstar who was world champion in three different divisions reigning in the bantamweight, super bantamweight and featherweight divisions, was born on May 28, 1964 in Marrickville, Sydney, Australia.
From a very young age, Jeff showed outstanding ability, ambition and singular determined to become world champion. He represented his country at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. That same year he made his professional debut by beating Bobby Williams by knockout in two rounds.
During his career, he fought 14 fantastic and thrilling title bouts and conquered several records in his homeland. He fought professionally from 1984 to 1996. Jeff enjoyed a brief comeback in 2008 against another superstar also in retirement…friend, and ring foe Ghana’s Azumah “Professor” Nelson.
Jeff`s record is 29 victories, 21 KO´s and 3 defeats. After his retirement, Jeff has devoted and dedicated himself to train and represent fighters. During his career Jeff fought kindred spirit all time greats and legends, including: Carlos Zarate, Azumah Nelson, Wayne Mccullough, Junior Thompson and Rolando Navarro.
One of the most memorable nights on his career took place in 1987 when he clashed with Samart Payakaroon, as the super bantamweight title was on the line, Down Under. With the incredible, enormous, emotional and inspirational support of his people, Jeff sent his rival into the canvas in the fourth round to win the crown.
