Unbeaten tough Aussie warrior George Kambosos Jr., has scored one of the biggest wins in Australian history by soundly defeating and dethroning hard-hitting slugger Teofimo A. Lopez to claim the unified WBA/WBO/IBF Lightweight World Title Saturday, Nov. 27, at MSG in New York, live on DAZN.
From the onset of actions, It was an epic war –: a sure candidate to fight of the year – in which both fighters rock each other hard, decking each other to the canvas, exchanging power blows, both ending the action-pack battle with blessing faces.
Scores were split: 115-111 and 115-112 for Kambosos, while one card was inexplicable 114-113 for Lopez.
Most importantly, in the eyes of most fans, George Kambosos Jr. (20-0,10 KO’s), the Australian warrior of Greek ancestry did enough to deserve the spectacular, stunning win.
Unfortunately, sore-loser Teofimo López (16-1, 12 KO’s), who was a 13 to 1 betting avorite, could accept defeat, saying during the DAZN post-fight interview that he was the one who won the fight – he did not.
Kudos to George kambosos Jr. for conquering the unified Lightweight world time in one heck of a fight.
Perhaps we could see Kambosos vs Lomachenko next. That could be another heck of fight!
