Former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre officially closed the doors on his mixed martial arts career in February, after 15 years of professional competition. This had apparently opened up many other opportunities for him, professional wrestling being one of them.

“I was at an ESPN event in the United States, the awards ceremony (last July), and I got approached by the WWE,” St-Pierre told Quebec’s TVA Sports (transcript via MMA Fighting). “I had just retired, and, it’s a form of competition, but of course, it’s also scripted, so I don’t know if I’d be willing to relive that.

“Perhaps for a special event, so I could taste it. But I don’t know if I’d want to sign a contract and do it every week and making it a living. Maybe for a special appearance.”

The 38-year-old St-Pierre last fought at UFC 217 in November 2017 where he won the 185-pound title against Michael Bisping. There were negotiations to make a fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov happen, but fell through for undisclosed reasons.
