Georges St-Pierre ended his retirement to face Michael Bisping for the UFC middleweight championship, and made history at Madison Square Garden.

The former welterweight kingpin returned four years after his last fight to challenge 185-pound champion “The Count” in New York on Saturday night, and scored an impressive third-round submission to claim another belt at UFC 217.

St-Pierre didn’t attend the post-fight press conference as he was transported to the hospital after the win, and released his first comments on social media Sunday night.

“The atmosphere last night at MSG was unreal,” St-Pierre wrote. “Feeling great today – Thanks everyone for making this the best night of my career!”

St-Pierre (26-2) scored his 13th victory in a row inside the Octagon, his first stoppage since a fourth-round TKO win over B.J. Penn in Jan. 2009 and first submission since Dec. 2007, when he beat Matt Hughes via second-round armbar.
