Earlier this week, UFC president Dana White confirmed that a fight between Georges St-Pierreand Nate Diaz was being targeted for UFC 227 on August 4th. Early betting odds have been released for the potential fight, that of which favor the former welterweight and middleweight champion.
According to the latest odds from BestFightOdds, St-Pierre is currently a -250 favorite, whilst Diaz is a +195 underdog. This means that a $100 bet on ‘GSP’ would profit you just $40 if he wins, but on the other hand a $100 bet on Diaz would profit you almost five times more, at $195.
St-Pierre (26-2) returned to the Octagon after almost a four year layoff to defeat Michael Bispingat UFC 217. He became the fourth man to win two UFC belts in two different weight classes, claiming the middleweight belt from the Brit on the night.
Diaz (19-11) hasn’t fought since August 2016 after losing a rematch to Conor McGregor at UFC 202. The Stockton native has shown little interest in a UFC return since then, with White stating the UFC offers him fights “every 3 or 4 months,” but nothing ever comes from it.
UFC 227 will take place on August 7th at the Staples Center is Los Angeles, California. The card will be headlined by a UFC bantamweight title fight and rematch between current champion TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt.
