FORMER WBO Asia Pacific Youth super flyweight champion Mark Anthony “El Heneral” Geraldo of Bukidnon defeated Kenny “Big Heart” Demecillo of Cebu via a unanimous decision to win the vacant WBO Oriental bantamweight title on Saturday at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center in Hong Kong.

The 25-year old Geraldo used his ring experience and sharp jabs to earn the three judges’ nods. Macao’s Samson Iu scored it 96-94 while Thailand’s Sungworn Klungboonkrung and Mekin Sumon both saw it 98-92.

Geraldo, who once fought but lost in an IBF eliminator, improved his record to 34 wins with 15 knockouts, 7 losses and 3 draws.

Demecillo, 24 also currently the WBF Asia Pacific bantamweight champion, suffered his 4th loss against 12 wins and 2 draws with 7 KOs.

The Geraldo-Demecillo bout served as the main supporting bout of the championship fight between Hong Kong’s Rex “Wonder Kid” Tso and Japan’s Hirofumi Mukai.

Tso scored an 8th round technical knockout to win the WBO International, WBO Asia Pacific and WBC Asian Boxing Council super flyweight titles.
