GENNADY Golovin showed why he is still one of the best and exciting boxers in the world today during his impressive live media workout held recently.
The live workout shown on HBO was part of the world-wide promotion of Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya of the much-awaited showdown of Golovin with Saul Alvarez on September 16 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“This is the real boxing fight unlike the Mayweather-McGrecor bout,” said De La Hoya, who called both Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor as “disrespectful to boxing.”
The 35-year old Golovkin showed that he is still in tip-top shape during the media workout. He will be facing the 27-year old Canelo, who is just now hitting his physical prime.
Golovin is defending his IBF world middleweight, IBO world middleweight, WBA super world middleweight and WBC world middleweight titles.
The undefeated Golovin (37-0, 33 KOs) previously won by a unanimous decision against Daniel Jacobs last March 18 at the Madison Square Garden in New York to retain his four world titles.
Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KOs), a former WBC world middleweight and WBO super world middleweight champion won his last fight via a UD over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a non-title bout last May 6 at the T-Mobile Arena.
