Oh my Omar….In New York, Omar Figueroa Jr. (27-0-1-19 KOs) defended his unbeaten record by knocking out veteran wily and durable former world champion Roberto “El Fantasma” Guerrero (35-6-1-18Kos’) in three blistering rounds, after five knockdowns.
The first round, started ablaze, with Guerrero punishing Figueroa with various combinations, good movement and fighting fast forward.
In the second round in a frenetic exchange of blows, Omar sent Robert to the canvass. He managed to get up only to be sent back to from whence he came twice more.
In the third round Guerrero tried to exchange punches but he was severely punished being knocked down yet again. After standing up, he received a crunching left hood to the body that sent him to the canvas for the fifth time. The Referee intervened to stop the fight at 1:20, declaring winner: Omar “Panterita” Figueroa.
