A light heavyweight clash between Gian Villante and Francimar Barroso was added to UFC 220in Boston on Jan. 20, the promotion announced following a report by Newsday.
Villante (15-9) will attempt to snap a two-fight losing streak in his first fight in 2018, looking to get back on track following defeats to Mauricio Rua (TKO) and Patrick Cummins (decision). Villante’s last win was a second-round finish over Saparbek Safarov in Dec. 2016.
Barroso (19-6, 1 no-contest) also returns to the Octagon following a loss, an unanimous decision defeat to Aleksandar Rakic after fighting Darren Stewart twice in the UFC — the first bout ended in a no-contest in Brazil, and “Bodao” won the rematch via decision four months later.
UFC 220 will take place at the TD Garden on Jan. 20. The promotion has yet to announce which fight will headline the pay-per-view card.
