Glover Teixeira vs. Ion Cutelaba set for first UFC on ESPN+ card

One-time light heavyweight title challenger Glover Teixeira is coming back to New York.

Per Newsday, Teixeira (27-7) has been matched up with Ion Cutelaba (14-3, 1 NC) for the UFC’s upcoming debut on the ESPN+ streaming service, which is scheduled to take place on Jan. 19 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. This will be Teixeira’s second time fighting at the venue after defeating Jared Cannonier by unanimous decision at UFC 208 in February 2017.

Teixiera has alternated wins and losses in his last six outings, bringing his UFC record to 10-5. Most recently, he was out-wrestled by Corey Anderson en route to losing a unanimous decision atUFC Hamburg. The 39-year-old can claim finishes of Misha Cirkunov, Rashad Evans, Ovince Saint Preux, and current Bellator champion Ryan Bader.

This will be Cutelaba’s second fight since returning from a six-month USADA suspension for prohibited ozone therapy. He returned at UFC on FOX 30 in July where he defeated Gadzhimurad Antigulov via first-round TKO. Cutelaba has won three of his last four fights.

Also reported by Newsday was a light heavyweight bout between Alonzo Menifield (7-0) and Vinicius Alves Moreira (9-11). Menifield recently earned a contract on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series with an eight-second TKO of Dashawn Boatwright, while Moreira was signed off of the Brazilian version of the Contender Series after recording a second-round submission of John Allan.
