Gokhan Saki’s next MMA fight has been scheduled.
The UFC announced on Thursday that the former kickboxing champion will take on Dagestan’s Saparbek Safarov on the promotion’s London show on March 16th.
Saki (1-2) made his UFC debut in 2017, knocking out Luis Henrique da Silva in a crazy one-round slugfest. “Turkish Tyson” then took on Khalil Rountree Jr at UFC 226 and was flattened in just 96 seconds. His lone MMA fight before signing with the UFC came way back in 2004, when he lost by TKO to James Zikic.
Safarov (8-2) has yet to win inside the Octagon. His short notice debut against Gian Villante ended in a second-round TKO defeat. After more than a year of inactivity, Safarov fought Tyson Pedro at UFC 221 and was submitted in the opening frame. If he loses this one and drops to 0-3, his UFC days are almost certainly numbered.
UFC London does not have a main event, although a key light heavyweight clash between Volkan Oezdemir and Dominick Reyes is targeted for the card, which will stream live on ESPN+.
