Golden Boy, Main Events to stream cards, original content on Facebook

The first card is on August 11th

Not content with just being chums with ESPN, Golden Boy has joined forces with Main Events and Facebook to stream free cards and “other original boxing programming.” The deal features a minimum of five events, each of which can be seen on either Facebook Watch or Golden Boy’s website.

The first card features Joseph Diaz Jr.’s August 11th fight with interim WBA featherweight champ Jesus Rojas, while Sullivan Barrera headlines against TBA one week later.

As far as the “original content,” the press release mentions rebroadcasts of older fights with commentary from the fighters themselves, plus “shoulder programming” featuring “major celebrities, prominent influencers, and top-tier boxing authorities from print, TV and the internet.”

I’m sure my invitation is in the mail as we speak.

Between this and DAZN, it looks as though boxing’s jumping headlong into streaming, which is a welcome development. It’ll be nice to watch some fights on my laptop without subjecting my adblocker to unending torment.
