GOLDEN GLOVES NY, TEN SHY OF A “TON”

The 90th celebration  of the NYC Daily News Golden Gloves,  opened with World Boxing Council President, Mauricio Sulaiman, and the WBC Amateur Program in its corner!
Since the first Golden Gloves tournament in 1923, it’s provided a bumper crop opportunity for hungry,,ambitious young fighters  to develop land, hone and polish rough hewn  skills.
Hundreds of dedicated administrators, coaches, trainers and counselors plus competitors have unselfishly spent countless hours, working toward this. With  Herculean efforts to assist young boxers in order to glow, shine and then wondrously dazzle.

The Golden Gloves program has led the way in promoting and guiding amateur boxing in the United States and it’s  produced the majority of competitors for America’s boxing teams, as well,as far and beyond.

At BB Kings, in midtown Manhattan, another group of young men and women displayed the skills they hoped will catapult   them to the finals on April 21st and 22nd, 2017. And we’ll be there, watching and cheering them on. Many great WBC Champions, started on this very road, reached the foothills and climbed their Everest, to gain the ultimate accolade in boxing.. The  fabled Green and Gold Belt.
