DAVAO CITY — Mindanaon Jilbert Gomera of Tacurong City will fight for the vacant Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) super bantamweight title on March 17 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

Gomera (12-1-0, 6 Kos) of the Highland Boxing Gym is facing Japanese Hidenori Otake (27-2-3, 12 KOs) for 12 rounds.

Gomera previously won a unanimous decision win against Eduardo Mancito to capture the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) featherweight title last December 3 at the Puerto Princesa Coliseum in Palawan.

“Ito ang unang laban ko sa labas. Gagawin ko po ang lahat upang manalo ako. Kung kinakailangan ko i-knockout ang Hapon, gagawin ko,” said Gomera.

The 35-year old Otake also won his last fight via a majority decision over Alexander Espinoza of Venezuela last Nov. 16 at the Korakuen Hall.

Otake, a former Japanese super bantamweight champion, won his last five fights after losing by a UD to Scott Quigg in their battle for the WBA World super bantamweight title on Nov. 22, 2014 in Liverpool, United Kingdom.

Gomera’s only setback was in the hands of former WBO Asia Pacific Youth super flyweight champion Mark Anthony Geraldo by a 6th round technical knockout last Nov. 28, 2015 at the Oval Plaza covered court in General Santos City.

Gomera also took the PBF super bantamweight crown by knocking out Prell Tupaz in the 4th round on July 11, 2015 in Gensan.
