CURRENT Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) Female super bantamweight champion Ayumi Goto of Japan pummelled to submission Sumanthar Baenkham of Thailand in the 4th round to remain undefeated last May 13 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center in Hong Kong.
Referree Yoshikazu stopped the fight in 1:25 of the 4th round of the 6-rounder bout which served as the main event of the DEF Fight Night 15 promoted by DEF Promotions of promoter Jay Lau.
It was also shown on Facebook Live to further promote professional boxing in Hong Kong.
The 29-year old Goto remained unbeaten with seven straight wins and five knockouts. She earlier captured the vacant OPBF Female super bantamweight crown via a unanimous decision against Kim Actub of the Philippines last March 15 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
Meanwhile, two other Japanese fighters also stopped their respective rivals in the undercard.
Flyweight Sho Kimura kayoed Wisitsak Saiwaew in the 2nd round while super featherweight Takuya Watanabe stopped Terdchai Doungmontree via a 3rd round technical knockout.
Two other Japanese from the Watanabe Boxing Gym ā€“ Mako Matsuyama and Ryan Joshua Yamamoto ā€“ however, bowed to their rivals.
Matsuyama, a super flyweight, lost to Filipino boxer Crison Omayao by a unanimous decision while Yamamoto, a featherweight, dropped a majority decision to Thabo Matsau.
In the other bouts, super flyweight Run Xing Li retired Tat Ming Lam in the 4th round while middleweight Tom Taw stopped Chun Hin Chan in the 4th round.
