Gillespie last fought in June at UFC Utica where he submitted Vinc Pichel in the co-main event of the card. The 31-year-old fighter is undefeated with a record of 12–0 that includes five UFC victories.
Medeiros, who’s returning to the lightweight division after having fought four times at welterweight, is looking bounce back from a loss to Donald Cerrone back February. The Hawaiian fighter is currently 15–5 and one no contest as professional fighter.
UFC on ESPN+ 1 is set to be headline by a flyweight title fight involving the defending champ Henry Cejudo and bantamweight champ T.J. Dillashaw.
