George Groves successfully defended his WBA super middleweight title over the weekend by stopping Jamie Cox in five rounds. Now, as he look towards his semifinals match against Chris Eubank Jr. in the World Boxing Super Series, he expects to keep his momentum going:

“He’s improved over the years but he hasn’t boxed anyone on my level. I know if I boxed like I did tonight he doesn’t stand a chance.

“Eubank is a performer first, a fighter second. He’s always aware of how he’s being perceived. He will relish the big occasion. He has been desperate to fight me because he knows it’s a big fight.

“If anyone was doubting me before, I think they know I mean business now.”

While Groves gets ready to take on Eubank Jr. in the next round of the tournament, promoter Kalle Sauerland is looking to find a home for the fight, which should be a big one across the pond. Currently Sauerland is in discussion with English Premier teams Arsenal and Brighton — as well as Fulham, who play in a lesser division — about hosting the fight at their respective stadiums, but the details haven’t been ironed out.

And while the projected time of year for the Groves-Eubank fight (January/February) isn’t the ideal time to hold a fight outdoors, that’s exactly what Sauerland would like to do.
