George Groves is ready to perform in the World Boxing Super Series.
The last time we saw George Groves, he won his first world title in his fourth attempt, beating Fedor Chudinov to claim the WBA super middleweight belt. On Saturday, he returns to action as the top seed of the World Boxing Super Series super middleweight tournament, facing Jamie Cox in London.
Groves (26-3, 19 KO) is heavily favored and will be looking to avoid a let-down in the fight.
From Sky Sports:
“For me, this tournament has come at the perfect time. I am the best fighter in it. I am the best in-form fighter in it. I don’t need a fight to shake off some rust, I am good to go. I’m not ready for the lull after winning a world title. You’ve got to win, win well, and win comfortably to preserve yourself. That is keeping me highly-motivated.”
The 29-year-old Groves would face Chris Eubank Jr (26-1, 20 KO) in the semifinal round if he wins on Saturday. Eubank smashed Avni Yildirim in his own quarterfinal bout this past Saturday in Germany.
