GUANZON INVITES MBA TO JOIN OPBF

THE newly-formed Malaysian Boxing Association (MBA) has been formally invited to join the Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF), an affiliate of the World Boxing Council (WBC).

“It is my great honor and privilege to invite the Malaysian Boxing Association to be a member of the OPBF,” said Guanzon.

“It is noted that Malaysian professional boxing is at its infant stage. It is with pleasure that OPBF will be a partner of the Malaysian Boxing Association in developing professional boxing in Malaysia,” added Guanzon.

The WBC OPBF is conducting a two-day seminar for referees and judges on October 29 and 30 at the Muay Fit in IOI Boulevard, Puchong, Malaysia.

WBC OPBF is coming to Malaysia for the first time to recruit the first group of official referees and judges from Malaysia. It will be in preparation for the first OPBF championship in Malaysia slated in January.

Guanzon said that he will be supervising the said OPBF title-fight.

WBC Asia secretary-general Patrick Cusick, also a member of the WBC Board of Governors and WBC Rating Committee will conduct the seminar together with multi-awarded WBC and OPBF boxing referee-judge Bruce McTavish of New Zealand.

Also invited are Dato Rahman Lariwoo, president of the Sarawak Boxing Association and WBC OPBF top boxing promoter Brico Santig of the Highland International from the Philippines.
