Unbeaten KO artist, IBF#2 junior featherweight Jonathan Guzman (21-0, 21 KOs) of Dominican Republic arrived in Japan on Monday to face IBF#1 ranked Japanese Shingo Wake (20-4-2, 12 KOs) in Osaka on July 20. The 26-year-old dynamite was accompanied by his trainer Hector Bermudez, who said, “Jonathan has been training strenuously in Boston and is in very good shape.” Guzman predicts a quick knockout victory over Wake, saying, “I’ll go and try to finish Wake from the start.” Guzman participated in a public workout on Wednesday before many local press people at Hiroki Ioka Gym, where he showed good switch-hitting to impress the journalists in Osaka. The sensational Wake-Guzman bout will take place in the semi-windup to the main event of Kazuto Ioka and Nicaraguan Keyvin Lara with the WBA flyweight belt at stake at Edion Arena Osaka on Wednesday next week. Will Guzman be a second Wilfredo “Bazooka” Gomez?
